Defend Your Castle: Just the Way I Wanted It!

Posted on April 27th, 2009 by A. Alexander

I’m pretty sure I’ve been asking for this port since the day I got my iPhone. It just seems like a perfect fit! Anyways, I can personally say it’s fantastically done, and right now is on sale for the low, low price of 99 cents. AWESOME. Check out some video footage below. Stick figure flinging FTW. Buy it. Now.

If you so choose, you can download it from the App Store of your browser at http://www.xgenstudios.com/defend-your-castle/.

Finally, Something for Wii Owners to Look Forward To

Posted on April 25th, 2009 by A. Alexander

I heard about this game awhile back, but for whatever reason it sort of fell off the radar for me. Muramasa is honestly about the only thing I’m interested in for Wii right now, so I’m glad to see it.

Grand Slam Tennis (Wii MotionPlus) Demo

Posted on April 23rd, 2009 by M. Williams

This guy is a little intense for my tastes. He really seems intent on it. However I do not think they achieved 1:1 controls and I noticed some lag in his slower movements. I suspect this is due to the character animation trying to keep up with the controller. He doesn’t use the nunchuck attachment so the game is dictating his characters motion. I noticed when he was rolling the Wii remote in his hand that the character seemed to be spazzing out a bit. I would like to see more video of someone playing with the nunchuck. I am sure that would be the best experience.

King Of Norway Nixes Sonic X Name Change

Posted on April 23rd, 2009 by M. Williams

A 6-year-old Norwegian boy has such an intense love for all things Sonic that he wanted to have his name changed to Sonic X, which is the name of Sonic’s animated series. To this point the story is uneventful. I remember wanting to change my name several times to things like Madman 0001 when I was little. Seriously, how am I supposed to save the world from endless threats with a name like Micah?

After bugging his parents, and following repeated denials from the parental units, they let the boy write a letter to send to the King of Norway. Amazingly and awesomely, the King responded, but told the boy that he couldn’t have his name changed until he was 18. A wise decision, my liege lord.

Resist Or Be Terminated?

Posted on April 23rd, 2009 by M. Williams

Here is a funny, trying-to-hard-to-go-viral, attempt by the producers behind the new Terminator movies. From the site:

A commendable gain, soldiers. We have succeeded in taking out one of Skynet’s legs, but we are a long way from making the machines buckle. I know dozens of businesses volunteered to have Skynet security cameras installed, albeit unknowingly also offering up the identities, personal information, possibly even genetic information, of all those who crossed the threshold of their stores.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Reviews Bummed Out The Developers

Posted on April 23rd, 2009 by M. Williams

“But part of it…is that I’m watching this team that has worked so hard on this game for two, almost three years. And they’re reading this stuff. And you’re right; all the air gets sucked out of the room. People were miserable for the whole day. It’s hard to keep them focused.”

- project lead Haden Blackman

It’s funny, I recently reread my own review of the game, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and I am going to have to stand by it. I am sorry it made you guys so emo, but you shouldn’t have charged me $50 for a SIX HOUR GAME that had very little variation in gameplay and was impossible to lose at! You spent three years on that?! That is reaching in to Duke Nuke’em Forever territory. You sold 5 million copies of this game so have a tall glass of STFU and go laugh your asses off to the bank.

But maybe you have integrity. Maybe the fact that your game sold more off of hype (of which there was tons) than merit (of which there was little) truly does bother you. Maybe you aren’t really in it for the money and just love making video games. Well, make better games and you will get better reviews. You had the Star Wars franchise in your hand. You could have taken whatever gameplay risks you wanted. You could have made a game that would have stood the test of time! Star Wars is made for games and they generally do very well. You were assured success and you delivered a 6 hour game that featured the same moves and tricks and “puzzles” over and over again. You could have done so much more with what you had.

Dumbest Quote Of The Day (So Far)

Posted on April 23rd, 2009 by M. Williams
“There may be a lot of “adults” who own DS hardware, but look at the ads: America Ferrera, Liv Tyler, Beyonce, and Carrie Underwood are all targeted at teen girls or women. It’s pretty clear to me that the ‘older’ DS demographic is largely female, and that they play Brain Training, Nintendogs, and Rhythm Heaven, not GTA: Chinatown Wars. …There’s no point making games for an audience that is not there.”
- Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter

There’s no point making games for an audience that is not there. I wonder if he really even thought about this before he opened his mouth.
